Blogging and News
We’ve been asked the question, Why does your website also have a blog on it? The short answers is, doesn’t yours? That’s not a fair answer but the long answer will make sense. Every site should have a blog or at least a news section that is updated every week, why? Search Engines, Google and Yahoo love new content and if they are seeing new content on your site on a weekly basis, they know your site isn’t dead but also think you are sharing important info with your visitors and will be more likely to add you to their search engine. Google gives all websites a ranking, how this ranking is calculated is a secret but with trial and error, we can guess at some of the techniques that give us a better PR (Page Rank). Site struggle to get their PR up and many will tell you that Google adds you to a “sandbox” for the first 3 months, But using daily updates and pertinent info about our niche, we were able to bring a website within 60 days to a PR 4, which is where many 4-5 year old sites are sitting at now.
Building a higher Page Rank is called SEO (Search Engine Optimization). SEO involves techniques to bring your company higher on Google and other search engines list. No company can guarantee you that your site will be on the front page, but with work and some tricks, we can get your site and your company well know for it’s product or service.
Back to why you need a blog or news page, the more info you have, the more search engines think you know about your industry. The more the search thnks you know, the higher they add you to their search results. So if your company makes widgets, and someone searches “buy widgets” you company may show up as one of the top 10 instead of 25 or on the second page of the search results. This in turn brings more business to your site and company. So what are you waiting for, set up that news page or even better a blog.
